Pioneer Library System Now Open 24/7

First 24-Hour Libraries in the United States

It’s official! Pioneer Library System is now open for business 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As libraries struggle to deliver services with limited hours and funding, Pioneer is able to meet the needs of two previously underserved areas around the clock by installing the first 24-Hour Libraries in the United States.

The two new 24-Hour Libraries are strategically located in busy and diverse sections of the city of Norman, Oklahoma. The first 24-Hour Library is installed in front of a recreation center and junior high school on the east side of town, it is within walking distance for several apartment buildings, enabling people of all ages to browse the book selection, check out and return books, audiobooks and DVDs, pay fines with credit cards, and place or pick up holds at their convenience.
