Lots of libraries were early adopters of the first viable RFID solution for libraries, pioneered by our own Emmett Erwin, the 'father' of RFID in libraries. Sadly, the format chosen by those libraries is proprietary and nothing like today's ISO Standard tag design. The technologies are so opposed, that the likelihood of a solution that could work for libraries using the former Checkpoint® 'Microchip' system and ISO seemed impossible - impossible until many of our customers asked us for a solution. When it became obvious that other solutions were not forthcoming, we decided that these libraries needed a way to leverage the enormous investment in a tagged collection while simultaneously having a way to adopt the current ISO standards.
